Mexico's mining production rebounds strongly
According to the BNAmericas website, Mexican mining production rebounded strongly in October.
According to data from the Mexican National Bureau of Statistics (Inegi), total production in October rose 8.9% year-on-year. According to Inegi's data, this is also the largest increase in recent years, much higher than the 6.3% increase in July.
Affected by the Covid-19 epidemic prevention and control measures, the Chilean mining industry fell by 25.1% and 17.8% in April and May, respectively. Lead and zinc are the minerals with the largest increase in output, with output of 13,892 tons and 33,581 tons, respectively. 19.8% and 22.4%. Copper also rebounded strongly, with an output of 39,471 tons, an increase of 12.6%.
The output of gold and silver was 6,483 kg and 297,281 kg, respectively, up 10.0% and 14.8%. The output of iron ore pellets was 496,965 tons, down 12.6%. Sulfur production was 31072 tons, an increase of 12.6%. The output of fluorite was 112017 tons, an increase of 11.3%. The output of non-coking coal was 504,314 tons, an increase of 10.3%. The output of gypsum was 480,149 tons, an increase of 5.1%. The output of coking coal was 58,853 tons, a drop of 26.5%.
In the first 10 months, Mexico’s mining industry fell 3.1% year-on-year, of which coking coal, non-coking coal and iron ore pellets fell the most, and only lead, zinc and silver production increased.
